About 1,445 Flint Energies customers lost power at the peak of an outage early Tuesday morning, a spokeswoman for the electric cooperative said Tuesday.
The 3:45 a.m. outage affected customers northwest of Gunn Road at U.S. 41 in the Centerville and Byron areas, said Kelly Trapnell, interim manager of public relations.
The power outage was attributed to a motorist running a stop sign at U.S. 41 and the Dunbar Road extension due to dense early morning fog and hitting a utility pole, Houston County sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Adams said.
The pole did not need to be replaced but an electric wire was downed in the accident, Trapnell said.
Power was restored by 5:45 a.m., she said.
