A Byron woman was killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Ga. 49.
Jessica Burwell, 35, died at the scene of the 7:08 p.m. crash at Ga. 49 between Academy Street and Chapman Road in front of the Race Trac convenience store, said Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Richard Peck.
Burwell was traveling west on Ga. 49 when she swerved to keep from hitting the rear end of an unknown car and lost control of her 1994 Lincoln Town Car, the trooper said. The car traveled across the center turn lane and into the path of an oncoming delivery truck, he said.
A passenger in the car, Raymond Loyd, 19, of Byron, was transported to the Peach Regional Medical Center for injuries that were not life threatening, Peck said.
