Contractors, painters and carpenters can receive lead-safe certification through training offered by Historic Macon.
On July 15 from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., T & C Safety Training Institute’s Chuck Griffith will lead the course for those who work in buildings that might contain lead paint.
Most houses built before 1978 contain lead paint.
The course taught at the Sidney Lanier Cottage at 935 High St. in Macon will certify workers to avoid fines for improper disposal of lead-based paint.
Participants must register for the $275 course by 5 p.m. July 7.
Registration and payment can be made online at http://www.historicmacon.org/preservation-workshops/.
