Students from the University of Maine and Boston University are using their spring break to help Rebuilding Macon with home repairs this week.

On Thursday, student scraped paint off the Patterson Street home of Dorothy "Dot" Gastin.

Phil Hill, construction supervisor for Rebuilding Macon said the organization "could not survive without volunteers."

Hill said plans for Gastin's home include a complete kitchen remodel, new exterior paint and screen for the front porch as well as other minor repairs.

Gastin was featured in The Telegraph's 2015 Reindeer Gang, and readers helped restore her home with running water. Jeffrey Butler, owner of Butler's Home Improvement & Roofing, put on a new roof in three days.
