The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch that includes much of Middle Georgia until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The affected counties include: Bibb, Bleckley, Chattahoochee, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Emanuel, Harris, Houston, Jefferson, Johnson, Laurens, Macon, Marion, Montgomery, Muscogee, Peach, Pulaski, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Twiggs, Washington, Webster, Wheeler, Wilcox and Wilkinson.
A tornado watch means tornadoes are possible in the watch area.
In addition, a wind advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. Wednesday to 1 a.m. Thursday. Winds are expected with speeds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Trees may be downed, and driving may be difficult.
