Runaway teens who fled deputies are found safe

Two runaway juveniles who ran from deputies Friday have been found.

Brittany Carter and her boyfriend, Carlos Bernal, both 16, of Jacksonville, Florida, were located in the 5700 block of Rivoli Drive at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a release. They were found after being spotted by residents in the area.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Lt. Randy Gonzalez said that because they are juveniles, he could not discuss whether any charges are pending.

They had some cuts and scrapes from being in the woods but were otherwise in good condition. Both were checked by paramedics.

Their parents are on their way from Florida “to be reunited with them,” the release stated.

The two were originally found Friday morning after deputies responded to a call of a horse running loose with a saddle on Bass Road. The horse’s owner was located, and reported someone had tried to take horses and saddles from the barn.

During the investigation, the two teens were found walking along Bass Road. After a deputy identified them, they ran into the woods and a search ensued.
