Elderly Macon woman found dead down an embankment at John Wesley Villas

An elderly resident of John Wesley Villas was found dead early Friday morning down a 50-foot embankment.

About 4:40 a.m., Macon-Bibb E-911 got a call from EMS about a reported cardiac arrest at the assisted living community at 5471 Thomaston Road.

The body of Lucille Brown, 92, was discovered down the hill at the rear of the complex, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

She was pronounced dead about 5:30 a.m., he said.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office does not suspect foul play in Brown’s death.

Investigators were told she suffered from dementia and was last seen about 2 a.m. Friday.

When a caretaker went back to check on her, Brown was gone.

After a search inside the building, she was found at the bottom of a steep drop not far from one of the buildings.

An autopsy is expected at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon to determine whether Brown died as the result of a fall or another cause, the release said.

A John Wesley Villas administrator said she could not comment on Brown’s death.
