Macon wins Georgia’s best-tasting water as MWA workers honored

Georgia’s water workers have voted Macon’s tap water the best in the state.

After Macon earned the 2009 title of Best-Tasting Water in North America, the Georgia Association of Water Professionals gave the Macon Water Authority top honors during their annual conference this month in Savannah.

MWA’s Dale Moorehead received the Operator’s Meritorious Service Award, the top honor for a plant operator.

Manager of Sewer Conveyance and Water Distribution for the authority, Darryl Macy, received the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award for extraordinary personal service to the Water Environment Federation, the national association for waste water professionals.

MWA Assistant Manager of Water Operations Jocelyn Hunt was inducted into the 5-S Society for raising scholarship money and the MWA received the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The authority’s silver level of recognition represents 742.5 hours of collective volunteer service among workers, the highest in Georgia last year.
