Wet Macon roadways cause I-16 accident

Bibb deputies responded to a wreck with injuries on I-16 east near Spring Street around 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jonda Kelly, 40, of Macon was reportedly driving her 2003 Buick Mountaineer when she lost control of the vehicle and struck the guardrail.

After striking the guardrail, her vehicle swerved back to the right, and Kelly over-corrected back into the left lanes, causing the vehicle to flip over on its roof, according to the release.

Kelly and her two passengers, 40-year-old Jackie Kelly Jr. and 60-year-old Lawrence Stoffer, were transported to the The Medical Center, Navicent Health to be treated for injuries received in the accident. All three are listed in good condition and stable, according to the release.

During the time Kelly lost control of the vehicle, she struck a 2010 Lexus driven by 49-year-old Susan Boyd of Tennessee, the report said.

The wet roadway and standing water were the reported causes of the accident.
