Memorial Day observances

Here’s a sampler of upcoming Memorial Day observances across Middle Georgia:


There will be a Memorial Day ceremony at the Fort Valley bandstand at 10 a.m. Friday to honor all men and women who have served.


Memorial Day Observance Program: Band concert at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, service at 2 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery. The speaker is Col. Thomas Carden, the state’s assistant adjutant general.


A Memorial Day Remembrance Program will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Macon Memorial Park, 3969 Mercer University Drive. Bibb County school Superintendent Curtis Jones will be the keynote speaker.

Memorial Day ceremony: 11 a.m. Monday at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. The speaker is 1st Lt. Don Nau, a Vietnam War veteran.

Memorial Day ceremony: 11 a.m. Monday at Magnolia Park Cemetery & Mausoleum, 205 S. Pleasant Hill Road, Warner Robins. The speaker is Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms.

The Macon Cemetery Preservation Corp.’s annual Memorial Day service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Linwood Cemetery on Walnut Street. The speaker is Alphonso D. Bryant.

The Sixth Annual Fort Hill Cemetery Memorial Day Observance is noon Monday at the Visitors Center flagpole. At 2 p.m. the first Fort Hill Cemetery Ramble will be available to explore Macon’s oldest burial ground.

The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center will host its annual Memorial Day program at 2 p.m. Monday in the auditorium. The speaker will be retired Army Col. Ralph Kauzlarich, executive director of Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.
