Macon residents and business owners are encouraged to learn about best growth strategies in two events this week.
Smart Growth America selected Macon-Bibb County as its only Georgia community where it will share best practices for development and growth, according to a Macon-Bibb County news release.
A public forum is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the commission chambers of the Government Center, formerly known as City Hall, at 700 Poplar St.
A workshop will be held Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Terminal Station’s fourth-floor conference room at 200 Cherry St.

“Macon-Bibb County is facing some important opportunities and challenges, so the time is ripe for a discussion of smart growth tools the community can employ to plan for future growth in the most strategic way,” said Roger Millar, director of Smart Growth America’s Leadership Institute.
Macon-Bibb’s application was one of 14 selected from more than 120 communities in 35 states.
