Much has been written about tremendous loss of life in the Civil War prison at Andersonville.
Next week, Historic Macon will shed light on heroic efforts to try to save lives at the old Camp Sumter Military Prison in Macon County.
Andersonville National Historic Site Ranger Stephanie Steinhorst will speak about the “Unknown Heroes” Tuesday evening at the Sidney Lanier Cottage at 935 High St. in Macon.
The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with the program at 6 p.m. Admission is free for Historic Macon members, $5 for other adults and $3 for students.
