Illinois woman missing from Macon found safe in Florida

A 73-year-old woman with mental health issues who went missing from a Macon motel Tuesday morning was found Wednesday afternoon at a relative’s home in Hollywood, Florida.

She was unharmed, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Susan Charkatz, whom her husband said suffers from extreme paranoia, drove off from the Baymont Inn at 150 Plantation Inn Drive in Macon, according to the sheriff’s office.

She and her husband were supposed to be headed to Milledgeville. Charkatz was driving a green Dodge Caravan with an Illinois tag.

A Mattie’s Call Alert was issued for her, but that was cancelled after she turned up safe in Florida.
