Migratory birds will have to find somewhere to nest other than the Ga. 96 bridge over Interstate 16 in Twiggs County.
If weather permits, the Georgia Department of Transportation will be installing netting on the underside of the bridge next week to keep the birds from roosting, according to a state news release.
If survey crews find birds or suitable nesting locations under bridges, projects would be delayed during migratory bird breeding season from April through August.
Single-lane closures are expected in both directions between mile markers 23 and 24 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists are urged to drive slowly through the work zone and adjust commute times for possible traffic delays.
