The funeral for Macon-Bibb County firefighter Lt. Randy Parker will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Macon City Auditorium.
Parker will lie in state at the Macon-Bibb County Government Center, formerly Macon City Hall, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Visitation with the family will also be held during that time.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Macon-Bibb County spokesman Chris Floore said some parts of downtown will be closed off Monday for the memorial service and funeral procession.
First Street from Cotton Avenue to Riverside Drive will be closed first thing in the morning, though the intersections on those blocks will remain open. Poplar Street northbound will be closed between First and Second streets.
Once the service is over, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office will close streets ahead of the funeral procession, which will go from the City Auditorium past the Government Center and later past the fire department headquarters. It will take a left on Oglethorpe Street, then a right onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard until it dead ends at Pio Nono Avenue. Then the procession will take a left, then turn right onto Houston Road, which will go all the way to Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
