The driver of a tractor-trailer that flipped on Ga. 247 early Wednesday morning has been charged with driving too fast for conditions and exceeding the speed limit, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Omega Edwards, 27, of Warner Robins, was not hurt when the rig tipped on its passenger side on the shoulder of Ga. 247, or Pio Nono Avenue, at the split with Houston Avenue and Broadway.
Edwards said he first thought his tire blew, but witnesses saw the load shift as he entered the curve just before 5:30 a.m.
“According to the people behind me, they said you could tell that the load in there had shifted,” said Edwards, who was hauling a shipping container bound for Atlanta when the accident happened.

The northbound lanes of Pio Nono Avenue were partially blocked for three hours while the accident cleared.
Macon-Bibb firefighters tended to a small oil spill, but no hazardous material was on board the truck.
