Bibb accident report indicates driver in fatal crash ran stop sign

No charges have been filed against the driver of an 18-wheeler that collided with a moped Monday night, killing the woman riding the cycle.

Gary Douglas Wills, 54, of Warner Robins, disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Industrial Park Drive and Erick Drive about 6:14 p.m., according to an initial Bibb County Sheriff’s Office accident report. However, no charges have been filed against Wills, according to the sheriff’s office. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.

Latrailia Faye Johnson, 46, of Fort Valley, was killed in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation. According to the report, Wills told investigators that he stopped at the stop sign on Erick Drive and looked both ways. He said he didn’t see anything as he crossed Industrial Park Drive, but then heard a loud bang as he continued to move forward.

Wills told investigators he thought he initially hit a yellow construction barrel but then saw Johnson lying in the road and immediately stopped.
