The Monroe County Board of Commissioners voted formally Wednesday to accept a proposed redistricting map for the commission based on 2010 Census results. The map now goes on to Monroe County's legislators, who will consider it and likely present it to the Georgia General Assembly. The map also needs U.S. Department of Justice review.
The map shows the new districts through colors. The old district lines are marked by a thick black boundary. With growth in northern and southern Monroe County, District 1, which includes much of Forsyth, had to grow, and now touches the Lamar County border.

The maps were provided by the Middle Georgia Regional Commission.
