A missing Jones County boy returned home safely Wednesday night, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew Pritchett, 13, walked out of Clifton Ridge Middle School about 10:30 a.m. and showed up at home about 12 hours later.
Jones County school resource officer, Sgt. Robby Walker, said Pritchett was hiding in woods near the school and walked about half a mile to his home.
Deputies and canine units searched the area around the school for about three hours but couldn’t find him, Walker said.Officials said Pritchett told some classmates he wanted to go to see his grandparents in Twiggs County.
