The Macon Water Authority has cleaned up a sewage spill of about 19,750 gallons that occurred between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and 11 a.m. Dec. 28 at the North Lizella Lift Station, 8124 North Lizella Road.
The spill was caused by a failure at the lift station due to a loss of power, according to a news release.
The spill went into Tobesofkee Creek. Debris has been removed from the area and the area has been disinfected with lime. A battery connection was restored and the station is functioning properly, according to the release.
