Some lanes of Interstate 75 in Monroe County will be closed over the next three months to repair a bridge damaged in August.
The Georgia Department of Transportation said Tuesday that Massana Construction Inc. will soon begin repairs of the Bunn Road bridge, a few miles south of Forsyth. A tractor-trailer crashed into the columns Aug. 18 and damaged a girder, leading officials to close the bridge.
The repairs will cost $247,000. Kimberly Larson, a DOT spokeswoman, said it’s likely that one northbound or southbound lane would be closed as needed for the repairs. The bridge, built in 1961, carries about 620 cars per day. Dames Ferry Road and U.S. 41 can be used to get to the two sections of Bunn Road separated by the bridge.
