The Georgia Department of Transportation announced more than $24 million in Middle Georgia road projects Friday. Dates for the beginning of construction will be set in the coming days.
C.W. Matthews Contracting and Apac-Tennessee will repave 4.24 miles of Interstate 75 in Houston and Dooly counties. That work, from north of Ga. 230 to Ga. 26, will cost $19.3 million and is expected to be done by the end of 2012.
Houston County also is expected to get intersection video detection systems on Ga. 247 and the Ga. 247 connector by April 30, 2012. R.J. Haynie & Associates won the $2.34 million contract.
Potato Creek bridge on Ga. 18 in Lamar County is in line to be rebuilt by Hill Construction Co. for $2.14 million by the end of 2011.
And an Interstate 16 bridge at Bullard and Jefferson roads in Twiggs County is expected to be rehabilitated for about $496,000 by April 30, 2011, with work by McCarthy Improvement Co.
