Gaudet hired as Macon police spokeswoman

TV and radio personality Jami Gaudet has been hired to be the new Macon police spokeswoman, chief Mike Burns said.

Burns said he offered the job to Gaudet on Tuesday. She’s scheduled to start work Monday.

Gaudet has the advantage of knowing Macon and already having a name that’s recognized and respected in the community, Burns said.

Gaudet previously co-hosted WMAC-AM 940’s morning talk show with Kenny Burgamy. She also hosted Unique Discoveries on Cox Communications and served as director of public relations for the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. She also has written freelance articles for The Telegraph.

Burns said Gaudet will be the department’s first civilian spokeswoman. He said he wanted to hire someone with experience in communications.
