I-75 lanes to be closed near Hartley Bridge Road

Contractors setting new bridge beams over Interstate 75 will be closing lanes next week near Hartley Bridge Road in Bibb County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has scheduled a double left-lane closure between mile markers 152 and 154 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes Monday through Wednesday and in the northbound lanes from Wednesday through Friday, according to a DOT news release.

Speed limits will be reduced, and signs will denote the work zone where speeding fines will be doubled.

Separately, Ga. 83 will be closed Wednesday in northeast Monroe County in the Berner area. The closure, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., is to accommodate Norfolk Southern Railroad crews improving a crossing.

Traffic will be detoured northbound onto U.S. 23 in Jackson to Ga. 16 in Monticello and then back onto Ga. 83.
