Macon City Council moves forward with Employee Advisory Group

Macon Human Resources Director Ben Hubbard presented City Council members with a revised set of guidelines for the Employee Advisory Group that the council approved in January.

For the past few weeks, Hubbard and the committee worked to set the method for assembling the advisory group and how it would function.

As it stands, city employees can either nominate themselves or be nominated by another employee.

Representatives from the mayor’s office and the council then decide which 12 employees best represent the city’s departments.

Each appointed employee only serves for a year on the group, which makes non-binding recommendations to the mayor and the council.

Councilwoman Elaine Lucas, who sponsored the original resolution, said it’s good for the morale of the city’s employees. She said she thinks the city will get a few good ideas from the process.
