Two more public hearings on proposed tax increases in Macon and Bibb County are on tap today.
At 11 a.m., a public hearing will be held in City Council chambers at Macon City Hall to hear from Macon residents about a proposed tax increase. If those plans hold, a city resident with a home valued at $100,000 would pay an extra $48 in taxes. Then, at 5 p.m., Bibb County school board members are scheduled to gather in the fourth-floor board room for their third and final public hearing. The board is set to vote on a new millage rate after the hearing.
If the board approves its plan, it would add about $33 to the tax bill on a $100,000 home.
