More than 24 rehabilitated horses will be sold at Hawkinsville auction next month.
The horses will sold to the highest bidder beginning at noon Feb. 6 at the Lawrence L. Bennett Harness Training Facility in Hawkinsville, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
Prospective buyers will be able to inspect the horses at 10 a.m. the same day.
The horses to be auctioned include grade mares, fillies, geldings and one AQHA registered gelding, the release states. The sale is on an “as is” basis, and payment must be made at the time of pick up. The horses are subject to periodic inspection by the state for 12 months.
Proceeds will go to the care and rehabilitation of impounded horses. No state funds are used to provide this service.
