A grant that funds the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic unit has been renewed.
The $92,010 grant provides funds for three patrol deputies to staff the H.E.A.T. unit, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The unit consists of three Dodge Chargers purchased with 2007 grant funds from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.So far in 2009 the unit has made 348 DUI arrests and written more than 6,000 citations.
The unit also participates in various traffic safety enforcement events throughout the state.
