Sports hall honored by international association

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame was recognized last week by the International Sports Heritage Association for its Steps For Life program, winning first place in the educational category of the communication awards.

The program is the hall’s health and wellness program that teaches fifth-grade students about healthy diets and the importance of exercise. The program has received grants from the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation and the Peyton Anderson Foundation and has served about 4,500 midstate students.
