Although Central High School theater students are just breaking in the new performing arts center at the high school, they are already faring well in a state theater competition.
Central High School was named Region 4-AA champion for its performance of “The Grimm Brothers Spectaculathon.”Region 4-AA consists of eight competing schools, according to Central school officials.
The theater group, under director Jason Levitt, also was honored for best ensemble.
Central student Kenneth Russ was named best actor, and Amara Sumowski was named best actress.
Central students Ashley Foy and Richard Grencko also were named all-star cast members.
Central will next compete in the AA state championships at Perry High School on Nov. 14.
The high school’s one-act play can be seen in the school’s new theater at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $5.
