Sporting goods store break-ins could be related

Macon police officers are investigating two recent burglaries at Dick’s Sporting Goods at 4645 Presidential Parkway.

Surveillance video recorded four young males entering the store through a broken front glass window between midnight and 1:15 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

The group took a shotgun and damaged another shotgun that was locked by a bar. They left through the broken front window, according to the report.

Surveillance footage recorded four young males in the store again between 1:20 a.m. and 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to a police report.

The group took bullets and candy. The front windows were broken using a rock, according to the report.Officers were alerted to both incidents by a burglar alarm.

Sgt. Zac Self said police officers are investigating whether the burglaries could be related.

“We haven’t ruled it out,” he said.
