A hunter accidentally shot himself in the lower right leg while hunting early Saturday, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened near Dixon Road. The sheriff’s office received a call about the shooting at 7:46 a.m. The sheriff’s office withheld the name of the accident victim pending notification of his family.
The injury did not seem to be life-threatening. The injured hunter was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. The shooting is being investigated by the state Department of Natural Resources and the sheriff’s office.
