University system sees increase in online course enrollment

Student enrollment in online courses offered by the University System of Georgia has risen 35 percent in the past year, according to a news release.

Just under 15 percent of the students enrolled at system institutions, or 43,000 students, are currently taking at least one online course from a university system institution.

The online course selection offered to students also has increased within the two years since the launch of its site, Georgia ONmyLINE, www.georgiaonmyline.org.

Today, there are 169 programs and nearly 2,870 courses, up from 35 programs and 1,600 courses, according to Kris Biesinger, associate vice chancellor for Information and Instructional Technology Services.
