Pedestrian attacked on Newberg Avenue

Macon police are looking into a report in which a Macon man was attacked Tuesday evening while walking to a friend’s house.

According to the report, the victim told police he was walking west on Newberg Avenue about 9 p.m. when he felt he was being followed. He tried to get to his friend’s house, but three men confronted him and demanded his money.

The victim gave them $15 and a bag of ice cream he was carrying. The men proceeded to hit him in the back of the head with an unknown weapon, then fled in the direction of Houston Avenue.

The victim managed to make it to his friend’s house, where his friend found him lying in a pool of blood. She called 911 and the victim was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment.
