Drivers pull in as flu shot campaign kicks off

Macon-Bibb County Health Department workers greeted the public for a mass inoculation Monday morning under the parking deck next to Dillard's at Macon Mall. Officials said the chilly, rainy weather might have kept numbers down but the flow was steady most of the day.

LaTonje May, the department’s health services program supervisor, said the Health Department will be there again Tuesday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and then Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Health Department offices at 171 Emery Highway.

Tuesday's continued drive-through service at the mall includes a limit of four people per car. The cost is $25 for the flu vaccine. The pneumonia vaccine costs $51.

Medicaid, Medicare and the state health benefit plan will be accepted.
