Billiard-table store robbed in Bibb

A man robbed a billiard-table store Saturday, injuring a clerk on the head and making off with money from a cash register.

The crime happened just before 4 p.m. at G&B Amusements, also known as the Arcade & Billiards Superstore, at 6230 Hawkinsville Road.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, a white man in his 30s entered the store and asked a clerk if he would show him some pool sticks. When the clerk came around the counter, the man grabbed him from behind and threatened to cut him with a knife if he did not give him money from the register. The clerk never saw a knife. The clerk tried to open the register, fell to the ground and was hit by an unknown object.

The robber grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from the register and ran out the front door.

The robber was about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds. He was wearing khaki shorts and a tan T-shirt with a design on the front. He spoke with a rough-sounding, loud voice.

The clerk was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition Saturday night.
