Macon man dies after bicycle collides with car

A Macon man who crashed his bicycle into a Chevrolet Tahoe on Hall Street on Saturday died Friday at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Soloman Hughes, 54, had been unconscious and in critical condition since last Saturday’s collision. Hughes died of a head injury Friday at 1:51 p.m., according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Hughes had been riding the bicycle with a passenger on the back. That passenger was able to walk away after the incident.

“The accident is under investigation by the Macon Police Department,” Jones said.

The crash took place at the intersection of Center and Hall streets. The Tahoe was driving up Hall Street and the bicycle was traveling on Center Street, which has a stop sign at that intersection. Hall Street does not.Information from The Telegraph’s archives was used in this report.
