Macon convenience store employee accused of stealing lottery tickets

An employee of the Lucky Keno on Bloomfield Road allegedly ran up a $14,922 tab on a Georgia Lottery Cash 3 machine and took $750 from the store before disappearing Monday.

The employee known by the store owner, Daxa Patel, only as “Mike,” allegedly opened the store between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday and used the lottery machine, according to a Macon police report.

Patel told police she did not notice the theft until the next day because she did not have another key to the store. Patel spent all day Monday looking for Mike, according to the report.

There is no surveillance footage of the alleged theft. Patel told police Mike removed the tape from the VCR.Patel told police that she knew Mike from “around the neighborhood.”
