Restaurant, clubhouse burned at Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greene County

A fire caused “extensive” damage to a restaurant and the clubhouse adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton Lodge resort at Reynolds Plantation in Greene County on Monday, said the resort’s general manager, Steven Freund.

The fire alarm went off at 9:40 p.m. Monday while about 25 diners were eating at the Linger Longer restaurant located inside the clubhouse. All the diners and employees escaped without injury, Freund said.

He said the damage was limited to the clubhouse and restaurant.

The hotel is still open and facilities will be available to accommodate golfers by this weekend.

Freund said efforts are under way to absorb employees working in the clubhouse and restaurant into open positions at the resort and other area Ritz-Carlton properties.
