A Bibb County jail inmate is not expected to regain sight in an eye injured in a Saturday afternoon altercation in a medium security section of the jail, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Witnesses told deputies that 18-year-old Christopher Richardson was harassing other inmates when another inmate, 22-year-old Steve Howard, intervened, according to the release.
Before deputies arrived, a scuffle broke out between the two men, and Richardson was struck in the eye by Howard, according to the release.
Richardson was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment and was taken back to the jail Sunday. He is not expected to regain sight in his eye, according to the release.
Richardson is being held on charges of burglary, criminal attempt to commit burglary and Houston County charges. Howard is being held for disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, entering auto, theft and violation of probation, according to the release.
