Tea parties planned today in midstate

The Macon tea party is scheduled for noon at Rosa Parks Square across from City Hall. Local radio host Chris Krok is organizing the event to rail "against the socialist policies of President Barack Obama," according to a news release. The first 100 people will get free sweet tea and a barbecue sandwich to represent the political "pork" in Obama’s budget, Krok said.

Several local Republican politicians, as well as gubernatorial candidate John Oxendine, are slated to speak.

In Warner Robins, a tea party is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. outside City Hall, which is located at 700 Watson Blvd.

Radio host Jeff Scott will broadcast live from the party from 3-6 p.m. on WNNG, AM 1350 and 99.9 FM.

In Eastman, a party will be held in the Chas-Mar parking lot at 6301 Oak St., which is also U.S. 23.

"Anyone who believes we are paying too much in federal taxes is invited," according to a news release from organizers of the event.

Gatherings also are scheduled in Cordele, Dudley, Eatonton, Jackson, Lyons, McRae and Sandersville.
