The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has proposed increasing parking fees for visitors to Georgia’s state parks and historic sites.
The fees are now $3 a day or $30 for an annual pass. But the DNR wants to increase the fees to $5 a day or $50 for an annual pass.
Money generated by the fees is used for maintenance and repair projects at Georgia’s 63 state parks and historic sites. The DNR Board will vote on the proposed increase at its next meeting April 29.
A public hearing on the increase will be held at 9 a.m. April 6 in the DNR Board Room, 1252 Floyd Towers East, 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Atlanta.
