Local groups to hold forum on stimulus

The Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials, the League of Women Voters, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will hold a “Stimulus 101” forum at 2 p.m. Saturday at Macon City Hall, said councilwoman Elaine Lucas.

The event will provide an overview of President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the overall impact of the federal stimulus legislation on Macon residents.

Panelists for the forum tentatively include representatives from the state Senate, state House, U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall’s office, Mayor Robert Reichert’s office and the Middle Georgia Regional Development Center, Lucas said.

For more information, residents can contact Macon’s City Council office at 751-7260.
