MWA cleans up Sabbath Creek spill

The Macon Water Authority cleaned up a spill at 3291 Willowdale Drive on Monday, the agency reported.

The spill was caused by hydraulic problems caused by the rising of the Ocmulgee River and subsequent flooding, which caused manhole covers in the area to be covered. About 3,600 gallons of sewage was discharged into Sabbath creek, the report said.

The area was later cleaned and the MWA has plans to rehabilitate the Corbin lift station, and will monitor the flow of the Corbin basin.
