Macon woman and her dog die after being struck by SUV

A woman who ran after her fleeing dog was hit and killed by a sport utility vehicle Saturday on Newberg Avenue in Macon.

Trinhmai Thingogoc, 60, was hit by a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe about 9:30 a.m. near her home at 1212 Newberg Avenue, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

“The dog ran out in the street and she ran after it and they both were killed,” Jones said.

Thingogoc was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where she was pronounced dead at 9:59 a.m., Jones said. The fatality division of the Macon Police Department is investigating the accident.
