Public meeting set for new Forsyth streetscape plan

FORSYTH – The Forsyth City Council will hold a work session to discuss and review changes made to the streetscape plan for the Forsyth downtown square at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at The Welcome Center, 68 N. Lee St., Forsyth.

The original plans, when presented at a public meeting last September, generated much criticism from local residents and business owners.

Opponents were most disturbed by large sidewalk extensions into the square’s four intersections designers said were needed to provide room for handicap ramps, and by the absence of plans to remove all utility poles from the square.
