Bibb County public school students will continue to be screened through Tuesday for the system’s gifted program.
Teachers and parents can recommend students to each school’s eligibility team who will review students grades, test scores and samples of work.
The team, which is usually counselors and teachers, will then decide whether to recommend the student for gifted testing this spring.
Tandi Pressley, director of gifted and advanced academics said about 1,800 students or about 7 percent of the system total are in gifted programs which allow students to work at a faster pace and work more in depth. These are children who are not always straight A students, she said, but those who are highly curious, creative and may ask out of the box questions.
