Three Burke Elementary School students were sent to The Medical Center of Central Georgia Friday morning with minor injuries. A parent took another child to the hospital for treatment later in the day.
A school bus carrying students was on Mulberry Street in front of the Grand Opera House about 9:15 a.m. for a field trip when a car pulled in front of the bus causing the bus driver to apply brakes.
“They didn’t hit each other,” said David Gowan, the school system’s director of risk management. But the impact may’ve caused students to hit the bus seats. One student had a jammed finger, another a busted lip and other minor injuries, he said. “If any kid is in an incident and complaining of anything we call an ambulance,” he said.
