Convenience store robbed

A convenience mart clerk and a customer were robbed at gunpoint Friday at the Murphy’s Express, 1702 Gray Highway, according to Macon police.

An employee told authorities he was standing behind the front counter at about 2:15 a.m. when two men entered the business.

One of the men approached the clerk pointing a rifle or shotgun in his direction and demanded cash from the register, according to a police report.

The robber also demanded money from a safe, but the clerk was unable to retrieve it because the box was locked.A customer walked in during the robbery, according to the report. The clerk instructed her to leave but one of the robbers stopped her. She was robbed of more than $700, according to the report.

The robbers exited Murphy’s through the front door, running away in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported.
