Three-car wreck slows Riverside Drive traffic

A Macon woman was transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia following a three-car accident on Riverside Drive shortly before 3:15 p.m. Friday, according to Macon police.

Officer Jason Bray said Juliette Smith of Baxter Avenue was attempting to make a left turn from the northbound lanes of Riverside into the BP parking lot near Pierce Avenue when she pulled in front of oncoming traffic.

Smith’s black Ford Thunderbird hit a black Pontiac G6 headed south on Riverside, Bray said. The Pontiac then collided with a silver Ford F-150, which was waiting to depart from the gas station.

Felicia Hampton of Hidden Lakes Court, the driver of the Pontiac, was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Bray said. Trenton Darnell of Gainesville, the driver of the pickup, was not harmed in the incident. Smith was cited for failure to yield to the right of way, Bray said.

Traffic was slowed as authorities worked to clear the wreckage. The Pontiac and the Ford appeared to be totaled in the incident.
